Cleft Palate Lip
This malformation is due to the lack of fusion between the structures that form the nose and mouth, the absolute cause is unknown. The malformation can occur only on the lip, or on the lip, nose, and palate. The first recommended surgery is the lip repair, this surgery can be done at 3 months of age, a year later the palate can be operated on and closed. At six years old, if needed, a correction can be done to allow the permanent teeth to come down.
Fortunately, if done on a timely manner and alongside a specialist, the effects are minimal and children born with these malformations can successfully grow and professionally develop themselves in the future.
