Transverse rectus abominalis muscle surgery

Breast reconstruction with muscle taken from the abdomen is done by transferring the tissue (skin and muscle) from the abdomen to the thoracic area. The benefit of this is that the tissue is the patient’s own tissue and that it comes from an area with similar consistency than that of breast area. However, with this procedure the abdominal wall may suffer some flaccidity.
